Skid

Pump units are often mounted on baseplates. Baseplates are designed for mounting on concrete foundations. A skid has the same functioning off a baseplate, only it is not intended to be bolted down to a concrete or stuctural steelwork. The pump unit is mounted on the skid and the skid is designed to rest on a flat surface. The structural members are slightly heavier than a similar baseplate, because the skid has to rest on the surface.

The skid is like a big frame where the pump units can be placed in. The purpose of a skid is that ít's easy to constuct the pump frame somewhere else and transport it later to the designated place.
