Because of the stricter environment laws, the development of pumps for the chemical process industrie was more strict. Especially the centrifugal pump when used to transport hazardous chemicals, didn't meet up to the existing requirements. Because of these strict environment laws, there was a need for centrifugal pumps with minimal leakage. The shaft sealed centrifugal pump has minimal leakage and is suitable for these requirements
The principle of this leakfree centrifugal pump is based upon using a centrifugal pump and a electro-motor and place it in a completely sealed pump casing. The pump has one moving part, a combined rotor, which is driven by the magnetic field of the inductino motor. The rotor is fully sealed off from the rotor.
All rotating parts in the pump are surrounded by the liquid, where a part of the pressure liquid is being circulated back to cool off the motor. This liquid has also compensates the axial forces on the rotor. For this purpose the shaft is constructed hollow inside. The rotor and the hollow shaft is sealed by a non-magnetic plate.
Sine the pumping liquid is also the cooling liquid as the lubricating liquid, it should be prevented that the pump would run dry. The stator space is filled with non-electric conducting oil, which improves the heat transfer and prevents damage by condensforming.
Except for safety against running dry, there often also is a temperature safety which measures
the temperature of the motor. When the temperature exceeds the predefined temperature, the
electricity for the motor will be cut off automatically. This prevents permanent damage that
may occur.
